Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to inaugurate and present the first Young-Executive Board of the Confederation of European ORL-HNS. The Young Confederation Group has been created to represent the needs and accomplish expectations of our under 45-year old colleagues. The Group is also the result of the hindsight of senior CEORL members who believe that under-45 support is essential to consolidate the future of our specialty. This double awareness has led to the identification of a work group, composed by specialists from different geographical, training and working backgrounds.

The Group’s tasks focus on laying the foundations for an experience-sharing network in the European panorama. Accordingly, the primary objective of this new working group is to promote international exchanges of training and professional experiences between colleagues. The creation of this network will help create research and study programs between European universities and research institutes. Furthermore, strengthening social connections will encourage lasting and productive collaborations in the near future.

In brief, the Young-Executive Board aims to serve Young Confederation members, assisting their training needs and contributing to the development outstanding European Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck specialists.

The first 12-month working plan of the Young-Executive Board will focus on accomplishing the following tasks:

1. Offering webinars specifically designed for training ORL-HN specialists;
2. Identifying a network of senior ORL-HN specialists with mentorship opportunities;
3. Offering international research opportunities;
4. Reducing rates to subscribe to sub-specialty webinars, meetings and courses all over Europe;
5. Creating opportunities to join as faculty-member or speaker to sub-speciality webinars, meetings and courses all over Europe.

Before getting to work, we extend our heartfelt thanks to President Professor Cem Meco and to all the representatives of the Presidential Council, senior Executive Board and members of the General Assembly. We would like to thank especially the President of the Congress, Milan 2022, Professor Piero Nicolai for his foresight and his enthusiasm towards the new Young Confederation Group. We also present sincere wishes and congratulations to the newly elected President, Professor Per Cayé-Thomasen, with whom we will grow and collaborate over the next four years.

Thanks to all of you who read this presentation letter, with the promise that the work of the Young Confederation Group will be a mission fulfilled by young people for young people.
